.:Final Empress Bridals Package Project.:

Front of business card:
 Back of business card:

The business cards were not that hard to do, I thought the idea of putting the company's email address on the back was pretty neat, plus I liked how it turned out, the off black color and pink go well together. I made sure that I used the same colors that I did in the company logo.

 Letter head:

The letter head was a bit of a problem, I face come challenges in trying to balance the entire design out, the mock up done before the final initially had a like on the bottom that did not match the top and just didn't look right, so I made the bottom the same as the top to create that similarity. I also had a hard time trying to get the watermark to fit on the side of the page right.

Brochure:

This is the area I found the most difficult, the color in the middle made it harder to get the brochure to fold right, so many adjustments had to be done and it got so frustrating until I eventually got the right measurements. I also had some problems trying to find good quality pictures to use but the ones are used are below. The font was a little too big during some of the test prints so I reduced the font size and changed it too because the one I was originally going to use was a little hard to read.

Overall another little issue I had was the logo, in Illustrator I created the first logo specifically the lady in white with the blob tool and it looked okay but when it came to trying to transfer her to the brochure, letterhead and business card it was impossible, so I re-did her and actually created her dress with the pen tool, with white fill and strokes. After I did that, everything just fell into place and worked great!...My project was more targeted towards high end women who can afford gorgeous custom made gowns and I think everything worked out pretty good.

.:Empress Bridals Brochure Sketch:.

Here is the sketch of the Empress bridals brochure, the image of the woman in the dress will be a watermark on a page of the brochure, and the first picture will be of a bride just to introduce the type of industry the company is in, and the second picture will be of a bridal gown. It will have a 'what we do', 'How we do it' and 'About Us' section. I was thinking of adding a couple reviews from make believe customers. I think I wont add a price just because when you visit high end bridal stores they never show a price, the prices are revealed once you go for a fitting.

.:Corporate Identity Questionnaire:.

  1.)   What is your business?
We are a Bridal store that sells gowns.

2.)   Describe your business in one sentence
We specialize in catering to the needs and desires of all brides, allowing them to freely create gowns that have never been designed.
3.)   Who is your target audience?
My target audience is more targeted to high end women women who plan on getting married.

  4.)   Who are your competitors?
My competition would be all the other bridal companies out their such as; David's Bridal, The White Closet Co and Alfred Angelo just to mention a few.

5.)   What makes them better/worse than your product/service?
For The White Closet, some of their links do not take you to certain dresses. For such a well known bridal store like David's Bridal, their website does not look as sophisticated as their commercials.

6.)   Do you currently have an identity?
              Not yet

7.)   How do you want your image to be seen in two years?
I would like the company's image to be one remembered as high end and sophisticated.

8.)   If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?
If my company was an animal it would have to be a swan just because they are elegant and white, signifying purity and cleanliness- just like a white gorgeous gown.
9.)   If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?
Michelle obama, she's so chic and is a good representation of a strong, powerful woman, that would be a great image for the company.

10.)   If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?
simple- a diamond. Expensive and a girl's best friend...would look great on a gown too. This is important because the value of a diamond is a great representation of the value of this corporation.

11.)   If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
Cinderella, she looked gorgeous in that gown, definitely how women wish to look on their special day.

.:Lyrical Collage:.

I decided to create my lyrical collage based on a song I forgot I loved; 'Collide- Howie Day.' Basically I decoded the song in my own way and interpreted the meaning behind the lyrics in my collage and came up with an equation to sum this whole story up. Ready...?
Boy meets girl (Vice versa) +  Boy and girl fall in love + unrealistic expectations from girl = guy's heart is broken hence the lyrics 'I've lost my place'. For those of you who have been in such a situation remember that time heals all wounds and never lose sight of whats more important. Anyway back to the creation process, I made two of my own brushes using images off of Google.
What I think makes this piece particularly interesting is the crack through the center, I'll leave that for the viewer to interpret. Below are the images I used.

.:A Woman Can Never Have Too Many Shoes:.

I love shoes! And I'll keep adding to my collection of shoes, so I decided to do an image on shoes in a store, hence the mannequins. I made the wallpaper with a pre made brush from http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/39719-cherry-blossom-1. I also used a pattern from that same site http://www.brusheezy.com/patterns/10895-sue-s-wood-patterns to create a wood feel to the floor which I love because it makes it have some character.

I created the table with rectangles, I created the shoes brushes and mannequins by using images I found. My initial idea was to add a closet of shoes and a rack of clothes however I did not have too much time to do all that so I just stuck to the mannequins. But with my own shoe brushes, I just stacked them as if they were neatly organized on the table as some stores do. I used different colors for the shoes so that they could be the main focus...I mean I don't know about you but when I look at the image my eyes immediately are drawn to the shoes...mission accomplished.  I had fun on this one!

.:Dust Yourself Off And Try Again.:

I was listening to 'Try Again' and though to myself how about doing a vector illustration on Babygirl
'Aaliyah' and give Miss Minaj a break, was a good decision because I love the shape of her face. I loved doing this project, my favorite part was the hair and her lips they just looked so animated and on point, I was really proud of myself.

The skin of her face was the most difficult part, at first I could not get the shades right and, the left side of her face I think was blended in a bit better than the right. I tried and that's the best I could do. Her eyes were simple had no trouble doing them, the glasses and her hand were easy too.
The nose was a bit tricky too, I could have gone into more detail and fixed it, parts of it are darker.

Here is the original...

.:Elephant:.

I loved this project, I had so much fun doing it. I chose to to do the elephant because I had a whole idea for it, I love how in cartoons female elephants have these elegant eyes and I wanted to do that. I think the part I enjoyed the most was the ears and head. I wanted to be more creative and make my elephant look a little more...attractive than the original. I think I suceedeed in this because even though it looks like a demeneted cross between a man and female it has some humor to it.
I had some trouble doing the background, at first I had no idea what I was doing wrong because I would do the square fill it will color and it would be in front of everything, it took a day for me to realize that I was overlooking a small part to make it work but eventually I did and was so thrilled! My initial idea was to so a colored walkway or catwalk stage for the background but when I did do it, I didn't like how it look so I just stuck with the white simple catwalk stage, I mean it looks like that to me but I don't know it looks to other people.

.:Final Logo:.

Tada! Here is my final logo for my company; 'Empress Bridals'. I loved designing this logo it has me written all over it. I used this color scheme because the bridal logos I found on Google, had more of a softer, feminine color scheme to them. A lot of females love pink so I thought a light baby pink would be ideal for this logo. I had to readjust the oval so it was equal on all sides, I had to find another way to making the wedding dress white so I used the blob tool to accomplish that. I also had suggestion on the critique to change the font of the company name which was initially outlined in white, it was harder to see the name when zoomed out so I decided to remove the white Stroke style. It was also said that the transition between the veil and the B for bridal was not too smooth so I altered that a bit to make it seem like it was flowing into a B. I loved how it turned out though and am proud of it!

Below I included a rough sketch of the final logo in it's beginning stage.

.:Calligram:.

I decided to venture out a little and add some fun to this assignment, I got a picture of Nicki Minaj and made a calligram with it. It doesn't really look like the picture below but hey I tried and I enjoyed doing it too!

.:Logo Analysis:.

I think this particular is successful because of its simplicity. The aspect that makes it stand out I think is the line right underneath the company name, it adds a sense of formality and experience. I think the hint of color in the hairpiece and bouquet as well as the shading in the dress makes it more successful. I believe its targeted towards females old and young who are ready to tie the knot in a to die for dress.

I love the pink in this logo ( it is my favorite color)! The pink color is an obvious indicator that the logo is targeted towards females planning on getting married. I also think that the main logo in the center is simple, memorable, and elegant style. Its something you can definitely see stitched to their dresses and that can be shrunk to the smallest size and still be recognized.

Even though I love this company and their amazing dresses (and is on my potential bridal stores), their logo does not do them any justice. I just think that it is a little too simple and plain, the only thing that really catches my eye is the heart. Yes I mean simple is more sophisticated but this one just does not stand out. I think its more tailored to a more older crowd that like simplicity.

This one is my favorite bridal logo. I love the detail in the dress, it adds a sophistication and elegance to the entire logo. The dress on a hanger is also interesting and makes me want to go buy a gown right now! The colors compliment each other very well and give it a vintage meets contemporary feel. Definitely a success and targeted towards every woman who wants a once in a lifetime dress.

This logo is one of my favorite ones even though it has nothing to do with the others analyzed, it totally works in that the two dogs and the crown make it interesting and unforgettable. Every female with a sense of fashion recognizes this logo from a mile away. It even looks better on the products and in gold. It definitely appeals to the female population worldwide. I just love the whole look of it - vintage but contemporary.

.:Company Ideas:.

1. *Empress Bridals- Affordable bridal store that provides customers with unique, off the wall dresses. Very different from the standard traditional white dress weddings.

2. C&M'S Bakery - Bakery that sells sweet tasting products that contain international ingredients imported from France, Switzerland and the UK.

3. Jackie's - Restaurant that serves the appetite of soul food cravers!

4. Lacquer Me Up! - A nail art studio that provides creative, new ideas for nail art.

5. Business & Decorum - An etiquette school that teaches potential business affiliated persons to successfully achieve their dreams with absolute business etiquette.

.:Project One:.

For the assignment, I decided to go for something abstract since I enjoyed abstract art, and most of my art pieces are more focused on the abstract aspect of art. I think what contributed to the success of this piece were all the distinct colors I used to give it some pop, but the dark colors also help the more lighter colors to give them a pop.

I struggled with the HML5 codes and constructing shapes and objects, so if I had a longer chance to do this again, it would be different and I would have chosen to do a more complex piece.  I do think that the piece would have been a bit more stronger if I had added more shapes and lines coming from every direction. While doing the lines, I thought of adding a spider to make it seem as if the piece was a spiders web however I found it hard to construct the spiders body and legs so I just left it out.

Before I started this assignment I looked for some sources of inspiration and came up with a few;
